Taddy Blazusiak has claimed a second successive victory in the 2013 FIM Superenduro World Championship. Adding to his winning result at the series opener in Poland the KTM rider topped the podium at the Enduro Indoor De Barcelona, Spain. With two rounds now complete, and just one remaining, Taddy sits 29 points clear at the top of the Superenduro championship standings.
Claiming a start-to-finish win in the night’s opening final, Taddy posted a fastest lap some two seconds quicker than any other rider. With a clear track ahead of him he steadily extended his lead lap-on-lap, receiving the chequered flag some 24 seconds ahead of second placed Ivan Cervantes.
The reversed start of the second final wasn’t kind to Taddy as he tangled with a slower rider shortly after the start and crashed. Forced to charge hard in order to chase down the leading riders, Blazusiak methodically worked his way up to third at the finish.
The night’s third and closing final again saw Taddy claim victory. Shadowed by Hungarian rider Kornel Nemeth throughout the race, Taddy made sure he didn’t take any unnecessary risks on an increasingly slippery track and went on to win by four seconds.
The final round of the 2013 FIM Superenduro World Championship takes place in Tours, France on March 9.
Taddy Blazusiak: “I’m really pleased with my result. I felt so much better than I did in Poland and I knew that although I’m still not 100 per cent I’d be in a much stronger position to challenge for the win. Pretty much everything went great. Winning the first and the third final made it a great night. I don’t like the reversed start order that’s used in the second final – it’s dangerous that the fastest riders get the last pick for the start – and I crashed early in that race. But I was also pleased with how I rode in that final – I took my time and ended up third. Like always starts were super important and my starts were good. My bike really is amazing off the start and in the first final I got such good traction I was in the first corner before I knew it. Being almost 30 points ahead in the championship takes a little pressure off for the final in France. But I want to try and get the same result I have in Poland and Spain. So far things have been great for me in the championship, I hope I can finish with another strong result.”
