Guy Martin’s Big Brew

Guy Martin’s Big Brew – Charity tea-drinking event brewing nicely for 2013!

Road racing legend and television star, Guy Martin, wants us all to once again get the kettle on and have a ‘proper mug of tea’ at participating venues over the Bank Holiday weekend of3rd-6th May 2013, to raise money forUKcharity Spinal Research.

Hundreds of kettles were boiled and thousand of cups of tea were brewed in support of Guy Martin’s Big Brew in 2011 and 2012 raising over £10,000 for Spinal Research. This year’s Big Brew events will be taking place all over the country from motorcycle dealerships to biker cafes, all with a view to raising money and giving something back.

The idea behind the event is for bikers to visit their local motorcycle dealer, club or café to enjoy a mug of tea and make a donation to Spinal Research. Most Big Brew events also include raffles, quizzes and lots more. Individuals are encouraged to organise an event too and as a reward, the person who raises the most money will get to meet Guy Martin! There will also be a nationwide free prize draw for bikers that attend Big Brew events to win the chance to meet Guy. To get the Big Brew off to a flying start, Guy’s even giving £3,000 from his 2013 calendar sales to Spinal Research.

After Guy’s accident during the 2010 Isle of Man TT, he realised just how lucky he was to escape paralysis. Guy decided to combine his love of tea with motorbikes and the Big Brew was born: “I’m putting my support and tea drinking enthusiasm behind The Big Brew and want to ask motorcyclists to get involved and do the same.  I was lucky that I wasn’t paralysed when I broke the vertebrae in my back at the Isle of Man TT in 2010, but not every rider is as fortunate as me. Taking part in The Big Brew can make all the difference to people living with paralysis.”

Big Brew’s Big Sideburns

The Big Brew also includes a ‘cheeky’ competition to ‘grow your own sideburns’.  Guy Martin fans can ‘grow their own’ sideburns or design their own custom made pair. The winner of the best sideburns, as judged by Guy, will win a Focused Events track day at any of their 2013 events.
