PROMISING PROGRESS FOR SAGAR IN ITALY
Putoline Suzuki by www.fasteddyracing.com enduro rider, Tom Sagar, showed promising form on the world stage once again at the weekend, as the Suzuki RMX450Z rider took 11th on day one and 12th on day two in the E2 class of the Italian round of the Enduro World Championship, held at Lovere near Bergamo.
Fast from the start, Sagar was in his usual aggressive form in the more extreme special tests, riding well in the hot and dry conditions on both days to bring his RMX home just outside of the top ten, but moving to a promising 14th in the series standings.
Sagar commented,"I'm pleased overall with both my own and the bikes performance. We were perhaps a little off the pace on the grass special tests, but certainly held our own on the more extreme going. The level of competition in the world series is fierce, so although we just missed out on a top-ten finish this weekend, I'm ahead of my own expectations and feeling more confident than ever of a top-ten finish in the upcoming rounds."
Team manager and rider Paul Edmondson was also competing in the E1 class, finishing day one in a very respectable 11th position, but chose to withdraw from the second day of competition.
Edmondson commented, "Well done once again to Tom. He rode well all weekend and kept his head in the special tests where we were not as fast as we hoped. To leave here with such a strong finish is very encouraging for the future. As for myself, I felt very comfortable on day one, and was happy with my finish, but the world championship is a tough series and one day was enough for me, so I elected to sit-out day two. On the whole, we all feel very optimistic for the upcoming rounds."
