Sprint Enduro entries open

British Sprint Enduro

Sprint Enduro entries open, 125cc Youth Cup & Women’s classes added for 2012

Entries are open and ready for download from www.enduro-sprint.com

Entries have officially opened for the 10-round 2012 Husqvarna ACU British Sprint Enduro Championship. Series organisers GMC Events have uploaded Regs and Entry Forms for all events to the series website – www.enduro-sprint.com - where they can be found under the ‘Entry Form’ tab. Riders wanting to secure their place in the championship are asked not to delay completing and returning their entry.

Competitors wishing to compete in the full 2012 BSEC series can register their intention to do so when completing the rounds one and two entry form. Once this entry form is filled out and returned there will be no need to fill in any additional entry forms for any other rounds of the series. Competitors will only need to contact event Secretary Mrs Julie Evans with changes of details – bike, class, etc. Riders that register for the series will be allocated a riding number for the full championship.

Two exciting new classes will be added to the championship for 2012 – 125cc Youth Cup and Women’s. Hopeful that the 125cc Youth Cup will attract yet more talented youngsters to the series, it’s inclusion in the BSEC series sees GMC Events follow the lead set by both the FIM and the Enduro World Championship in introducing a class specifically for Under 19 year old competitors mounted on 125cc or smaller machinery. Widely regarded as enjoyable, and affordable, machines on which many of the world’s best riders developed and honed their skills, but also largely uncompetitive against 250 four stroke, for these reasons alone GMC Events is introducing the new class. The 125cc Youth Cup class is open to all riders aged 15 to 19.

Although self explanatory the new Women’s class will allow female competitors to compete together in their own class, just as the Under 19 or Under 23 class riders do. With the Women’s class in the World Enduro Championship growing in popularity, and the Women’s class becoming ever more prominent at the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) it’s hoped that the class will shine a light on the UK’s growing number of talented female competitors and maybe start the ball rolling with regards a possible British Women’s ISDE team.

Event Secretary Mrs. Julie Evans, 21 Ffordd Gwynedd, Garden Village, Wrexham, LL11 2TF. Entries Hotline - 07531 146617 (evenings only 19.00 – 21.00)

Sprint enduro is an exciting new rider, spectator, and media friendly discipline that delivers simple to understand, day-long, enduro racing action. The series caters for the best enduro talent in the UK. The BSEC is governed by the ACU – the internationally recognised National Governing Body for motorcycle sport in the British Isles (less Northern Ireland).

About Husqvarna

Husqvarna is an iconic off-road motorcycle brand. In ’07 Husqvarna became a part of the BMW Group with the German company completely revitalising the Husqvarna brand, which is now the off-road competition arm of BMW Motorrad. A new factory that houses production, design, administration and R&D has since been built in Varese, Northern Italy. Enjoying competitive success at the highest level, in 2011 Husqvarna clinched the Enduro 1 and Enduro 2 World Championship titles with their TE250 and TE310 machines ridden by Finn Juha Salminen and Frenchman Antoine Meo. Building its first motorcycle in 1903 Husqvarna motorcycles were produced in Sweden until ’86 when the company was sold to the Cagiva Group, which later became MV Agusta S.p.A. Enduro greats such as Anders Eriksson, Paul Edmondson, Samuli Aro, Stefan Merriman, Petri Silvan, Antoine Meo and Juha Salminen have all enjoyed world championship winning success with Husqvarna. http://www.husqvarna-motorcycles.co.uk
