Britain’s best take on international stars at BESC opener

Knighter leads long list of British talent while Taddy Blazusiak and Joakim Ljunggren add international flavour

The majority of Britain’s best enduro riders have already confirmed their participation in the 2010 British Enduro Sprint Championship, which gets underway on March 27/28 at Chavenage Farm, Gloucester, with Farioli KTM star David Knight leading the way. With entries in the Elite, Expert and Under 23 classes filling up one thing that won’t be missing when this exciting new series starts is close racing action. With KTM’s Daryl Bolter, Greg Evans and Ed Jones, Husqvarna’s Si Wakely and Matt Ridgeway, TM’s Philip McLaughlin and Aussie import Josh Green, Husaberg’s Ollie Moyce and Jamie Paget, and Gas Gas riders Ashley Wood and Bradley King just some of the confirmed riders the race to claim this year’s BESC titles is already hotting up…

Confirmed as competing alongside Britain’s best are KTM’s indoor and extreme enduro specialist Taddy Blazusiak and Husaberg’s #1 WEC racer Joakim Ljunggren. Both using the event as preparation for the opening rounds of the World Enduro Championship their participation will not only add an exciting international twist to the event, but also ensure more great racing action. With Taddy the reigning US Endurocross and FIM Indoor Enduro World Cup winner, and Joakim a former two-time Enduro Junior WEC champion who placed third in last year’s Enduro 2 WEC category, both will be looking for a spot on the Elite class podium.

The rider to beat in the Elite class looks set to be former two-time World Enduro Champion and US GNCC title winner David Knight. Wanting to be the first rider to win the Elite class BESC title, and in doing so adding to his long list of championship and event victories, Knighter will unquestionably be a force to be reckoned with. But with former European Enduro Championship winners Daryl Bolter and Si Wakely, and experienced enduro racers Ed Jones, Greg Evans and Philip McLaughlin, all up for the challenge there’ll be plenty of home grown talent gunning for success.

The Under 23 class is already stacked with talent, ensuring racing every bit as close as in the Elite and Expert classes. Bringing together Britain’s growing number of gifted Under 23 enduro riders most all manufacturers will have at least one rider hoping to triumph. Included in the Under 23 class riders confirmed for the BESC series are the likes of Ashley Wood, Bradley King, Matt Ridgeway, Ollie Moyce, Jamie Paget, Alex Rockwell, Charlie Evans, Craig Reynolds, Frazer Norrie, Gave Houson, Tom Braddock, Joe Jones, James Burroughs, Mike Evans and Australian Josh Green.

Not to be overlooked the Expert class, which combines both Expert and Clubman class riders, has also attracted a sizeable group of riders all hoping for success. With the likes of Karl Greenall, Tom Smith, Robert Lynn, Tony Cotty, Jesse Say, Freddie Broadway, Simon Ellway, Richard Ely, Peter Ballinger and Aaron Poolman all confirmed it ensures that the opening round of the BESC series will be an event not to be missed.

Riders wanting to compete in the British Enduro Sprint Championship can still do so and can find Regs and entry forms, as well as detailed championship information, on the series’ website – www.enduro-sprint.com

John Collins – ACU Trials & Enduro Chairman: “It’s fantastic to see that so many riders have already stepped forward to compete in the first British Enduro Sprint Championship, not just in the Elite class but in all classes. From the Elite class through the Expert class to the Under 23 category it’s clear that competition will be high, which can only be a good thing for British enduro sport. The addition of a handful of international riders will help add to the sense of occasion at the first round. This is a hugely encouraging start to the BESC series, the ACU now hopes more riders will compete in this exciting new series.”
